The role of the Strategy Management Group (SMG) is to develop the HEPCW Procurement Strategy in conjunction with the Board and ensure the strategy is implemented by the various commodity groups.
All full members of the Consortium are entitled to be represented on the SMG, plus the Chair and Deputy Chair of HEPCW Board. Normally, institutions will be represented by their most senior procurement practitioner. In addition Value Wales (Procurement) and the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW) are invited to send one representative to the SMG in a non-voting capacity.
The Chair and Deputy Chair of the SMG must be a Procurement Professional, each of whom serves for a term of three years and can normally continue in post for a maximum of two terms.
The SMG meets three times per annum, or as necessary, to service the HEPCW Board and develop the HEPCW Procurement Strategy. Its current membership is:
